Holgate Brewhouse is a 100% independent Microbrewery cranking out Real Beer from the awesome Hotel/Brewery in historic Keatings hotel at Woodend in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria, 45 minutes from the Melbourne CBD.

The Holgates are dedicated to the re-creation of classic beer styles - full in flavour and rich in character. They use natural methods to handcraft a range of full malt ales and lagers that contains no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives.

Paul Holgate

The vision was conceived after travelling in Europe and the USA. They realised that the cool climate of the Macedon Ranges is an ideal location for a brewhouse that captured the style, flavour and atmosphere of traditional breweries in northern Europe. In 1999 Holgate Brewhouse was born.

Holgate Beers are brewed traditionally and naturally using just FOUR ingredients – Malt, Hops, Yeast, & pure Macedon Ranges water.

Whichever brew you choose, take a moment to appreciate the colour, head and aroma before moving onto that most crucial sense - taste.

The Beers

Pilsner

Holgate Pilsner is a true Euro-style lager, bottom-fermented, and characteristed by an ultra pale colour, an abundance of Czech Saaz hops, and a delicate grassy and floral aroma and palate. The Pilsner is a crisp and refreshing accompaniment with seafood.

Mt Macedon Ale

Holgate Mt Macedon Ale is a golden Pale Ale , moderately bittered with tangy American hops. Paul Holgate has handcrafted a pale ale that delivers pure drinking pleasure, and is an excellent accompaniment with tomato and Mediterranean dishes.
